I'll be flying down to Meadville PA in late may. Are there any attractions I should visit while I am here?

The same question applies to Pittsburgh, PA; I'll be flying in here.

You capitalize Meadville, but not May?

I live in PA, but have no idea where that is.

Since you're going to Pittsburgh, taking a side trip to Falling Water might be worth it.

Well, it's where Sharon Stone is from- 'nuff said- but you could check the wikipedia entry on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meadville,_Pennsylvania

I lived about an hour North of Meadville for about 7 years and can honestly say that there ain't much to look at in that town. The best part about that town is that its close to the interstate so its easy to get out. Then again I lived in Erie, PA for all those years and there wasn't much to look at there either. Pittsburgh on the other hand is worth the time to get around. Especially a trip to Primanti Brothers.

Yea, my understanding is that Meadville is, according to my mom, "poor country where people generally have a pretty small world, a tired looking town."

Not much in Meadville, maybe Conneaut Lake nearby. Decent riding up there if you have your bike.

In Pgh, walk around the Strip District. It is an area downtown where the wholesale produce and seafood arrives. Many different ethnic food vendors, good people watching. It is where you will find Pirmanti Brothers.

Even if you are not a baseball fan (I am not) take in a game at PNC Park. It is very retro, great views of the city, the food, although expensive, is decent. Get a Penn Pilsner, great beer. Avoid like the plaque any Iron City Beer product. For nightlife, go to the South Side, everything from blue collar bars to the trendy. Have dinner on Mt Washington for the view of the city at night.

If you have your bike, we have serious hills here. If you are in shape attempt the Dirty Dozen: http://gorp.away.com/gorp/location/pa/we_pittsburgh3.htm

Have fun!

Meadvfille, home of Allegheny College. I used to ref hoops on occasion there.

"I came, I saw, I reffed, I left."

'Nuff said? It is a small college town---both the town and the college, that is...the school is highly rated, but the scenery isn't.
