Road Cycling - Carbon Fork

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have an old Trek 2300. CF main tubes with AL everywhere else, including the fork. I love it. It's just what I need. I am thinking of putting a carbon fork on my baby. Some questions:
would it make a big difference?
what type fork should I consider?
what should I expect as far as a ride feel?
Thanks for the help.

if you get a reynolds ouzo fork for $199 and put it on you will benefit from better cornering & control and dampening your perception of discomfort in your hands, etc.
Yea, you will probably notice an increased in comfort and weight. Look at he Reynolds Ouzo and the Profile Design forks. And if you can afford it, an Alpha Sub 3.

A about 14 months ago I replaced an aluminum alloy straight fork that had a threaded headset, with a carbon straight fork and a new threadless headset. My longest rides on this bike since the changeover have been between 70-90 miles. I'm not sure that I can detect any appreciable difference in comfort, and there wasn't a lot of difference in the weight.

Oh but the look of Carbon! It just looks great while you stare down at it while riding!

After switching to carbon fork it made enough of a difference that I could quit wearing gloves on shorter rides (30 miles or less). YMMV. :D
Thanks all. I guess if I was starting from scratch, I would make sure I had a CF fork. But changing from AL to CF now doesn't seem worth it - not even for the look, which ain't bad now!
Thanks again.
I have a Look CF on my CrMo frame. Very comfortable. Handling is super!!
you should get one... It will be worth every buck. :)
