View Full Version : Frame Recommendation for a Long-Legged Freak

Hello all.

I'm new to riding and recently built a 61cm Motobecanne Phantom Cross that doesn't fit me very well. The seat height is good, but the top tube is way too long. The fit calculators I've done recommend a bike with a 60cm frame with a comically short 54cm top tube. Can anyone recommend a frame that has dimensions close to this? I'd prefer a cyclocrosser, but could probably live with a road frame. Steel is prefered, but at this point I'd take anything that fits.

Thanks,

-Cormac

Rider height and inseam?

Why don't you head on down to your local LBS for a professional fit?

I reused the seat off an old mountain bike on another project, and noticed it was made so that the rider sits farther back relative to the seatpost than my cruiser seats- do normal bike seats allow for any variability in this? Or all the same?

Like Mazama said, go and get fitted. We are all not built the same and just because we have long legs doesn't mean we need to stretch out farther. I ride a 70cm C-T and my top tube is 57cm C-T-C.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I had my friend measure me with the help of the fit calculator on competitive cyclist. This is what it came up with:

Trunk: 25
Forearm: 13
Arm: 24.5
Thigh: 25.5
Lower Leg: 23.5
Sternal Notch: 61
Total Body Height: 73

The French Fit (cm)
-------------------------------------------
Seat tube range c-c: 60.5 - 61.0
Seat tube range c-t: 62.3 - 62.8
Top tube length: 54.1 - 54.5
Stem Length: 10.0 - 10.6
BB-Saddle Position: 77.7 - 79.7
Saddle-Handlebar: 54.3 - 54.9
Saddle Setback: 7.0 - 7.4
Seatpost Type: SETBACK

Does anyone know of a cyclocross frame that fits the bill?
