Greetings cycling world!
I just wanted to let you all know about the Jax to Jax Fun Ride on May 17, 2008. This is a charity event to raise money for Project 999. (http://www.project999ride.org)
Each year a group of bicycle riders representing Police Agencies throughout Orange County join together to commemorate the lives of those Orange County Police Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice - theyve given their lives in the line of duty. The riders do this by cycling 630 miles from Sacramento to Orange County to raise money for Project 999. (http://www.project999ride.org)
Jax Bicycle Center honors their incredible effort by hosting our own, one day 80-mile bike ride.
Details can be found here... (http://www.jaxbicycles.com)
Our day begins at Jax Claremont where we roll out at EXACTLY 8:00 am. (This is the same time that Project 999 officers begin their long trek from Sacramento to Santa Ana, California) We will cross the "Orange Curtain" through Carbon Canyon to our first stop at the Yorba Linda Jax. From there, it's an easy 5 miles to our Fullerton Store. Our next stop will be the Long Beach store via the Coyote Creek bike path. After that, it's an easy cruise down PCH to our Huntington Beach store. From there, we will continue down PCH into Balboa and that's where we go nautical! Your registration fee includes a ride on the Balboa Island Ferry. This is a nice break before we tackle the home stretch to our final destination, Jax Bicycle Center in Irvine. This is a point to point supported ride. This ride finishes in a different location from the start. This is not a loop. Participants can purchase shuttle bus tickets in advance at any Jax Bicycle Center for $20. This will get you and your bike back to Claremont from Irvine.
Im personally inviting you all to come out and join us for a great day of cycling in the OC.
The donation for the event is $40 and goes up to $50 the week before the event.
You can register at any of the Jax Bicycle Centers or online at:
Active.com (http://www.active.com/page/Event_Details.htm?event_id=1571267&assetId=8f555b32-c447-422b-a0d7-5654159a6ce9)
Even if you dont ride, donations to this wonderful cause are more than appreciated. Join us at the finish line expo for food, fun and prizes.
Thank-you so much for your consideration and I hope to see you all there!
