View Full Version : So how did you do on your goals through April?

After a rough March, April went very well for me.

My goal of 2,000 miles for the year is looking good. I had a goal of 150 miles for the month of April, and I hit 278.1 miles according to the Saturday Spinners spreadsheet. Plus as a bonus I discovered I had only missed my goal for March by less than 1 mile instead of the 10 miles I had thought. So I now have less than 1300 miles to go for my goal of 2000 miles for the year.

My weight goal for the year is 40 pounds to get under 190. This one is not going well overall but at least I'm heading in the right direction again. My weight of 219 pds is down 2 pounds from the end of march and down 9 for the year. So 31 pounds still to go. I need to do a better job of food-hand-mouth control.

I'm also trying to ride 3 organized centuries. The first is July 5. I still need to register for it. But I expect to do that with my next paycheck.

so how are you doing with your goals?

Good job with your mileage goal.

I've done terrible with my mileage and weight goals. Early in the year I set a target to ride a 200K brevet on April 6 with a friend at work. Due to what I thought were recurring colds from mid-Feb through early April, not only was I not ready for the ride, my weekly mileage, which was steadily increasing went from 60 to 0. The good news is I discovered I wasn't getting colds, I was allergic to something at the gym I was working out at. Now that it's sorted out, I'm riding again and my mileage has finally begun to increase. So now I'll reset my goal to riding a metric century sometime in June and a century a bit later.

Good for you, terrible fo me. I got pneumonia back in March, and my lungs are just getting clean now. Plus the weather sucked around here.

Started the month well, but it went downhill fast in the last week and a half with an upper respiratory infection. Still don't have much lung capacity, although I'm finally riding again after 8 days of no riding (or of any other working out).

I didnt' get the miles in nor did I get any weight loss. My ankle is still recovering from twisting it earlier in the month and unfortunately the ankle that had surgery 17 years ago is getting sore once and a while which is not good at all :(

I did however go for my first group ride a 200k that just happened to be my first ride of 100miles or more. So it was overall a pretty good month.

My goal was to finish 5 massive projects, train 2 new employees, work 17 hr days, get paid less than one of the new guys, train someone in India, try to .............oh, you mean biking goals. Uh, yea, no where close to hitting those.

Completed the month with 1162 miles.
Breathing great now.

i got like 2 miles in all month. this is amazing considering that i shattered my collar bone in a nasty road crash on easter sunday, and was pretty much down for the count all month. I built up a fixed gear beater while my good road bike sat in the shop waiting to be serviced, and i rode the fixed gear once. This happened to be the day before i had my final check up with the orthopedic doctors. not the brightest idea, but whatever. So now i sit at 5 weeks into the healing process and i feel great. I've been cleared to ride, but no bike as of now for the longer rides, and the fixed gear is just kinda sketchy(small frame, lots of stem). still weigh 240, i've just lost the leg strength i had before. I might spend a week or 2 on the trainer just spinning and doing intervals to get it back...once i get my damn bike back.

Rough couple of months with health and work and travel, but did get the new bike build mostly complete and was where I wanted to be in terms of how far I could ride in one sitting. I was approaching a high, when another health setback - some unexpected rapid heart rate at the end of my last run - leaves me not knowing quite where I am right now, or what I dare risk doing before I get it checked out. Very scary and frustrating.

My goal was to be consistent in getting out during lunch to exercise, using a combination of biking and trotting (not fast enough to be considered jogging). I did pretty good except for a few days when I just decided to not do anything.

My goal was 500 miles, I finished with almost 550.

My goal for May is to finish over 400 miles, but to knock a TON of hills from www.bicycleclimbs.com off my list.
