There was interest a year or so ago on BF for this class but they fill up very fast. There are slots left in the 5/17 class in Concord and 5/18 class in Berkeley. I just signed up for the Concord class. I thought I'd post it up here, just in case others may still be interested in checking it out. The class is spendy though ($85 for REI members).

I was going to do that but I think it's mainly a basic tune up class, right?

I did this class last year in the Fremont REI; they do cover a little more than the basic tune-up stuff.

What else do they cover? Bearing overhaul and adjustment? Wheel truing?

I hope they'll cover more than a basic tune up. I'm bringing my son's hybrid bike to work on since it needs some attention before he takes it to college next year.

Hope it is useful! It would be great if you could post a review of the class afterwards, thanks.

From what I remember:
- brakes & derailleur adjustment (including cables)
- wheel truing
- wheel hubs
- headset overhaul
- removing/cleaning the chain
- mounting tires & tubes

And I'm probably missing a few things. But the class isn't designed to cover bike overhuals.

Also, the instructors are really helpful. They give each student a bike stand and tools to work on their own bike. They then come around and give pointers and any assistance.

Overhauling your hubs and bottom bracket isn't any different from overhauling your headset, right?

Will do!
