Surfboard Trailer?

I was looking for a trailer for my longboard and came across this website (http://www.muletransportsystems.com/). Does anyone here have any kind of experience with these? I live about a mile away from the beach and would rather ride than drive.

I am trying to avoid the side mounted racks that I see and would prefer to go with a trailer type system if possible...any other suggestions are appreciated.

I've used the kayak version...but on foot rather than on my bike. They work OK. How many turns are there between your house and the beach? I can imagine that turning would be awkward with an 11' board trailing behind you.

I only have two turns to make to get down to the beach. One right turn on a quiet residential street and one left turn from a residential street onto a main street (Algonquin/Sandra Lee and Warner). From there it is a fairly straight shot to the beach.

I think I really like the idea of the caddy tho. It looks like it would be more practical for hauling groceries and other chores on the side.

i see the mules all over manhattan beach. i saw one yesterday and two this morning, as a matter of fact. they must be great.

The Mule looks cool! Simple and compact! I Pull shopping runs at the farmers market with a Burley Flatbed trailer. http://www.bicycletrailers.com/Burley-Flatbed.pro I would say that the Bicycle caddy looks very awkward! I think that it might be a case of trying to squeeze too many uses out of one trailer. I would suggest getting the Mule, and if you then want a trailer, get one that has a better connection system and is better made. Pulling weight in a good trailer is not that fun, but that bicycle caddy looks like a nightmare.... just my opinion..

I emailed bicycle caddy to see about purchasing from them. I really like the idea of being able to use that as a utility trail in addition to hauling the surfboard.

Try searching/posting in the utility bike sub-forum. Many trailer users have not liked trailers that Hitch high (to the seat post) and carry the weight high... The Bicycle caddy does both..... Both will seriously undermine control and stability.

Note that only going a mile simplifies the problem considerably, and you could do some things you wouldn't want to do to go cross-country.
