Go to your LBS, they might have some extra stuff laying around.
Also check craigslist.org, find your state to the right and click on it, then find your region. You will see bikes on your region's page. Ebay always has something too. And most importantly, check out danscomp.com, they have great service.
yea my LBS is ridiculously over priced. i went there and asked them if they had some older parts lyin around that they would sell for cheap, and they basically dropkicked me out the door
Same here, BOTH of mine are money hungry. One word...Cannondale.
Check Ebay. They always have cheap stuff.
danscomp has some odyssey cranks for $60 bucks. should i go for it? sealed bearings (with cups), spindle, arms, and all hardware.
plus craigslist doesnt have jack in my area and i didnt find anything good on ebay.
Odyssey for 60, haven't seen them, link?

they only come in chrome, but i can make do i guess. theyre cheap enough that it doesn matter. whaddya think?
NO! They're solid aluminum, aluminum snaps and they are even tubular. In other words, they're for BMX racing. Don't get Poverty cranks either cause they can snap easily. If you're tight on money (like me), see if you can fork out an extra 40 and get the Eastern 720's and their BB kit. I just got them and I'm VERY pleased. The BB kit also comes with the washer to use your old one-piece chainring. Search Google for pics of snapped aluminum cranks and you'll see why the Phat Widow's are not a good buy for tricks.
Oh yeah...the Eastern's come with the installation/removal tool.
Hey...I just read another one of your post SR that said you already have cartridge bearings. So you might not need the Eastern BB kit if the bearings you have now are for a 19mm spindle.
the bearings i have now arent sealed. theyre just cage bearings. i need to get me some seeled ones. what about the redline monster cranks? those have sealed bearings right?

No...read the description carefully, SHIELDED cartiridge bearing, Caged bearings with a plastic shield over them, won't last long. I really recommend the Eastern's and their BB kit. If you look closely, the Monster's arm does NOT wrap around the pedal boss, but the Eastern's do. Yeah, $100 is a lot (it took me forever to get the money), but for the money, these cranks are great.
cool thanks dude. now all i have to do is find a way to get the money haha
what about the industry stroker?

they seem decent
you can't go wrong with Profiles or a knockoff brand same style. they may not be dirt cheap, but they will not need replacing.

A knock-off brand will most certainly break before a real set of Profiles.
Profile imitations are, most of the time, dirt cheap anyway.
Profile's aren't that expensive anyhow. You can get a full set with BB for $160.
unless i go with the maderas which are made by profile... theyre like $120 with BB
Yeah the Maderas I would trust.
A little heavy though.
Second the Maderas.
I'd check out ebay. I got Primo Powerbites for 70$ plus shipping. Came with everything.
Search Google for pics of snapped aluminum cranks and you'll see why the Phat Widow's are not a good buy for tricks.
You don't know what you're talking about.
Primo makes great aluminum cranks.
Primo cranks suck, their hubs are amazing
so do i just do the maderas or not?
just hold out and look for a beter deal by a bike on craigs list cheap with decent parts break it down and make a good bike
yea but i need the bb now... and the cranks. the whole underside of my bike is shot
Grab some tools and head down to the bikerack in front of your local library. The parts won't be choice, and there is a chance you'll get your ass kicked, but, hey, at least they'll be free!
hahahahaha didnt think of that. sounds like fun.
Just get the Madera's. Do it.
what about the poverty? i need parts now and i dont feel like waiting any longer.
and just so everyone understands before they say stuff about the poverty parts, i dont break cranks very fast, and i dont really care about weight cause ill just get used to it.
but i need the parts NOW. my bb is falling apart. literally. a few weeks ago i had to swap out one of the bearings with a spare because it exploded. like the casing just completely shredded and there were ball bearings all over the place.
so nobody ever really told me what to do. maderas or the poverty? cause im a little bit short on the cash for the maderas but i can get the povertys and i need the parts pretty bad. sooooooo...?
