"If anyone is around mid-western Wisconsin on May 10th, they should check out the Valleycat in Eau Claire. My friend and I have organized previous races in Eau Claire which were all successes and enjoyed by all. We have t-shirts and a free post-race meal setup; beer and lots of prizes.

Hopefully we can get some people from Madison and the twin cities to show up because it really isn't too far from either of the two. So bring some friends to EC next weekend and have a good time; hopefully the weather is nice.

I went to highschool with sheba and I'll be there for the race. If anyone from milwaukee wants to go, too, I've got room for one more in my car. I'm leaving for Eau Claire tomorrow night.
Ah, the ValleyCat was awesome. 29 people showed up and everyone had a blast. There were at least 2 guys from the Twin Cities and one from Chicago. When you registered you got a water bottle and a sweet tee shirt designed by Midwest Tattoo. First 15 people got a little bottle of Ernesto Bike Lube, as well. I haven't tried it yet, but the guys said pretty good things about it as well.
As for the race itself, it was pretty nice. It covered about 25 miles and went all over town. I'm a wuss, so my route avoided all the big hills but was still fun. I got to hop fences and all that. My route ended with a nice ride down University Hill, the steepest hill in EC. I placed 21st, which isn't surprising, but no one was really that competitive. Great group of people and everyone had a great time. Everyone got prizes and it was well worth the $10 registration fee. After prizes were given out there were games of foot down, plus track stand and skid comps. And lots of free beer.
Everyone had a great time, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the region next time. Make sure to come- it's worth it. There should be another one this summer.
