How often do you service it and what do you do.If i took my bike into the lbs and asked them to service it,what would they do.Better yet,if i take it in for a tuneup{free**what else should i have them do?

How old is the bike? How many miles since last tune-up? What problems are you having?
Sometimes "free" doesn't mean free repairs, only adjustments.
A tune that you pay for will usually include most repairs but not major parts.

As long as it has never been wet you should be fine. If you get free play or any noise at all you should have them take a look at it. Water is the BB's worst enemy.

Your bike most probably has a Shimano BB cartridge. These are no-maintainance units. When the bearings wear out, you toss them, and buy a new unit.
They are well sealed against water. I use mine in the rain all the time, and they last about 10k miles.

You can get much more expensive units with replaceable industrial cartridge bearings. These can be maintained, but you only fnd them on the best bikes.

Adjustable cup+cone BB systems are obscelete, and havent been used on new bikes for years.
