I don't know if anyone has had the chance to check out this book, but it is absolutely great-- I'm not through it yet, but after the first fifty pages or so, I've already learned TONS about riding a roadie, and on todays ride I could really tell the difference that knowledge can make. I highly recommend it to all of you guys and gals on here, especially the beginners!

If you like the bicycling series then The Bicycling Guide to Complete Bicycle Maintenance and Repair by Todd Downs is a good one, once you can ride, then a repair book is a good idea, even if your all thumbs and don't know the difference between an allen key and water pump pliers. This is because you will know why the shop wants what they do for certain repairs. Then again, when you break down 25 miles from home, and your cell phone laughs at you by showing "no service" on the screen, knowing how to replace a link in a broken chain, or patch a puncture, can mean the difference between getting home a little late, and a very very very long walk of shame..... I try to fix as much as I can, because that gives me a more intimate connection to the bicycle, and saves some dough. Although sometimes by the time I figure out how to do it, buy the needed tool(s) and parts, it's not such a big money saving, but man is it satisfying:D

It's like many books published by Buycycling; it's a good collection of information that you would need a couple of hours to research and read online. :D
