Hello, I had my mountain bike in for repair. The gears where not shifting right. The guy said that the left hand crank
could cause me problems. I got him to write down the problem to see if this is normal.

Chain set

Truvativ Isoflow with square taper.

Drive side good fit about 1/8” 3mm off taper when tight.

Left hand bad fit about 1/2" 12mm off taper when tight.

Japanese bottom bracket
Japanese taper

Tried another left hand crank same model still the same problem.

Tried two other left hand cranks Shimano and Santo no problem.

Is it normal the left hand crank is 1/2" 12mm off taper when tight?

Why is this happening? A faulty batch?

Is it safe?

Thankyou
