You know it, BMXer's and skates don't seem to get along...blah blah blah. If BMX is to be recognized as a sport (and the ability to use skateparks), skaters and BMXer's are just gonna have to get along. So, are you one of those riders who are crossing the lines and accepting differences? If so, can you pull any board tricks?

I know this is a general subject, but a search doesn't reveal anything like it in the forums.

I've been into skating all my life. I skate ever chance I get too. Along with biking which is still new to me. Anyway I've always had respect for BMXers or in-liners. As far as tricks go for skating. I can only pop ollies, and 180's. I can get the flip down for a kick flip but I can't land my front foot onto the board.

You might be turning your shoulders. Try keeping your shoulders parallel to the board.

As far as the tension between bikers and skateboarder, it think it's stupid. People do what they have fun doing, whether that be skateboading or biking. Ive done both for years now. Right now, on the nights Im not busy with work or biking, Im out skating with friends. Ive biked with bikers that hate boarders and Ive skated with skaters who hate bikers. It doesnt phase me because I know Im having fun whether Im on a board or a bike. What does bug me is when people act out on it. ex: I was with a group of bikers at a park and they kept snaking the place and just dropping in whenever they wanted either not giving the skaters a chance to go or just cutting them off as if they owned the place. I felt embarassed to be with them because that is the kind of stuff that keeps the tension going. As far as skaters acting out, I havent personally experienced any but Ive heard of bikers getting threatened and hassled when they're sharing a park/spot with skaters. Its like racism, we want it to go away but it never will.

Yep. That's my problem with the whole deal. Skateparks are pretty much closed to BMXer's, why? Because BMXer's have no respect for skaters and the owners of the skateparks have no respect for BMXer's. Of course, this is all in general. Think about it, skateboarders are all about peace and love, so do you see a gang member on a skateboard. No. They're always on a BMX. BMXer's have created a bad image for themselves and that's what ticks me off. BMXer's are gonna have to start showing respect for others or the world will never see BMX as a sport.

Add another skater to the list right here.

Good possibility.
I can't remember if I turn my shoulders. I don't think I do, but I could be doing that.

i used to skate and all of my friends still do. being the only one that rides is fun because it helps my friends to see a spot in different ways, as it does for me. plus its really easy for filming, on my part, cause i can match any speed that they can throw out there. i really respect skating and hope that all of the stupid people who feel that there is a big tension between bikers and skaters realize that theyre just plain dumb.

ChristAir

Street Rider, I'm not sure if you mean there ISN'T ANY tension or there SHOULDN'T BE; nontheless, there is tension. You can look at enormungus's post and know that I have seen exceptional tension here. To the point where BMXer's beat the tar out of skaters because they're skaters (one of those BMXer's was my uncle). There are two skateparks here and neither allows BMX ANYMORE. They were built for both BMXer's and skaters, but the situation has gotten so bad that BMXer's have been kicked. People have also been leaving BMX for skating all over my city. I'm glad you all respect skaters and skate yourselves. I wish I could, but I can't balance for nothing.

Oh...sorry. I was joking. NJ is up there and he might be able to ride with you. I was joking because he has found like 5 bike less than $150 and they're bikes that sell for over 250 a piece. Crazy. Anyway, sorry for the joke, but PM NJ Jersey Fresh and see what he's up to.

I need to get more riding friends. So far I only ride with one of my friends.

Well i skateboarded for years... the only decent thing i could do was a laser flip... which is a 360 heel flip. I then took up in lining and i learned to do about every sort of grind and switch up on hand rails... and i could 540 a 5 foot high funbox... i started surfing last summer and was able to drop in on my first wave on a 6'2'' rusty learning on a short board was hard... now im picking up bmx... im horrible... but i think its because now im older and i work full time that if i break something im screwed... im constantly worrying about how to to pay my bills every time i launch off a ramp... i just dont want to get hurt.

Hmm...possibly.
I assume the Burlington Bristol Bridge in Bristol would allow me to get to Burlington. :p

If so, then I'm not too far from Burlington. It's now a matter of where in Burlington.

Bridge is basicly a strait shot 2 my house only like 2-3 miles away

Like I said earlier, I wish I could skate. However, the roads in m neighborhood are old and rocky, so skate boarding isn't really possible here. I like the range of a bike.

And to clear some things up, I get along with skaters. But that doesn't mean everyone does. I just wanted to mention that in case you guys thought I don't get along with them.

Also, heres a few of my boards:

Short board cruiser:
Pretty decent for short rides from a friends house to another, 2-3 blocks and then I start to walk. Rolls nicely and handles really good but it's to stiff for my liking and has lots of concave. I pretty much bought it because it really stood out to me as unique at the skateshop, and it was a fairly limited run board and I love limited edition decks. I picked out the trucks and wheels separately and I think they suit it fairly well:

My short board when it was new:
Really nice, solid, budget set up that hasn't failed me. Mini logo deck the was in pretty rough condition, sanded it down, tore off the griptape, filled the chips, and painted a nice deep purple (looks blue in the pics though) I even made a stencil for it. Phantom II trucks, Mini Logo wheels, Bones reds.

Group shot of some other boards:
I like the longboard, trucks are just Independents, but the deck is a Powel and the wheels are Kryptonics with Lucky 7's, but it's not quite as nice as my other "longboard." The others are some pretty cool old banana boards.

And finally, my other Longboard:
It's been passed around for a few years now amongst friends, and is very widely recognized at parties. Best thing ever to ride stoned, in fact, it's how I got home a few minutes ago. because it's how I get around when I'm stoned...
