Triathlon - triathlon bike -- should i buy if good deal?

I have been looking for a good used road bike, and it happens that once in a while I come across a very good deal for a triathlon bike. Can you all give me some advice here -- would getting a triathlon bike be a mistake? I'm not an incredibly serious rider, are the differences that big?

Yeah, I think it'd be a mistake. Try doing a search for the differences bw a road and tri bike. For long rides, it'll be less comfortable...steeper geometry and fewer hand positions. They typically handle worse too. They're also heavier.
