I am so new to cycling, today I put my 50th mile on the first bike I've had since I was 10.

It all started with a blind date with a cyclocrosser. I went out to see a few of the races and just LOVED watching those fools trotting around in the mud. Admittedly, the bike shorts did not detract from the spectacle. ;)

Things didn't get very far with the date, but I was completely infected by his enthusiasm for cycling.

I had to get some! Bought my Bianchi Strada 10/31 on Ebay. After my (now) friend the cyclocrosser put the thing together for me, I finally got to start riding it a week ago.

I've been out every clear day since. Love it love it love it!

As for me- geeky web grrl and all around couch potato in Seattle. What is with all this fresh air and excercise?!

I'm very glad I found this forum. I've already picked up some great information.

Welcome, newbie! :D

Sounds like the cycling bug bit ya pretty hard, and that's a good thing! You'll love what this sport can do for your mind and body, not to mention the places you go and people you see.

Howdy Xythen !

Once you get in shape and are ready to join the TRULY insane, give randonneuring a try.

Holy Cow, Cycletourist! I think I've gone mental with just starting this whole cycling thing... Randonneuring?! I'd have to be completely around the bend!

See you in a year or so, then? ;)

Xythen was a somewhat unfortunate character in a book I read once. It wasn't taken in AOL, though... and It stuck. Boring story? yes.

So you got the bike. Did you also become a cyclocross dresser? :D

I don't have the style to become a cyclocross dresser (or the body hair) but I did pick up a pair or two of those saucy shorts... ;)
