I just finished the USA crits speed week races these included Athens twilight and the Hawkins classic. I only did Greenwood, Spartanburg, Charlotte, and Sandy Springs. My team director asked really nicely and got all of us cat 2s invites.
They were defiantly the hardest races I have ever done, 1.5 hours at 30 mph and trying to move up by bumping elbows with Rashaan Bahati. The races get so hard when KBM has eight guys on the front its unreal. Defiantly the most fun races I have ever done, its awesome to race through a downtown at night doing 30mph when all you can hear are people screaming.
my results (not terrible since I just upgraded to a 2 and was racing against mostly pros)
Greenwood - 84th
Spartanburg - 40th
Charlotte - 52nd
Sandy Springs - DNF(only lasted 1 hour)

Sounds like some races that will definitely make you faster. Congrats on the finishes.

I'd be proud just say I raced against Bahati.
Some say he's arguably the best crit racer in the country right now.

Dude hell yeah. I wish I couldve done 'em too. I had no idea your squad was so stacked - that slovenian guy is fast all right. Can I get on your team next year? :)

Black Sheep pulled a win eh? Freakin' awesome man. With a little recovery you're going to be scary fast, 22nd at Walterboro is no bullsh*t finish. You should be pinning it at some climbing races for sure.
Good job!
I had a hell of a lot of fun watching Athens, you should put it on your calendar next year.

Yeah I'm pumped for the climbing races this season, this weekend is highland rim RR 110m of mountains, and an uphill tt then its TOA then Roan Groan then rest.
I've already knocked out 22 races this season so a little break in June where I can drink some beers and rides those bikes that go in the woods a little bit will be cool. I might actually end up missing the state RR championships.

Are they splitting the SC/NC road race champs this year?

Supposedly, they tried doing it last year and it fell through and it ended up being just one race.
