What's with the crimping on this downtube? I can't imagine what that would be designed to clear. The symmetry gives it an intentional look though. Any ideas?

By design, it supposedly increases rigidity.
Possibly to clear the fork crown if the bars are turned that far?..

I cant imagine it being anything but design, how would you hit that part of the frame with a rock or a log?
I don't care about the dimples, get that Lynskey built and post photos!

It should be fairly easy to tell whether the dimple was created before or after the frame was given its brushed finish. I'd think anything that would hit a frame that hard would leave a mark.
