Mountain Biking - whats your frame size/height?

I just wanted to see what everyone's riding compared to their height

Me, I'm 5'9 riding a 19" Trek frame

I'm 5'6", riding a 17" C-T frame. C-C is 15"

I'm about 6 foot and ride an XL frame, which I think is 21 inches.

5' 8" riding trek 19" and khs 15.5"

Total height isn't critical, inseam length is.

But, I'm 6'0" and I ride a Medium (about 17"), I also ride a 55cm road bike (LeMond). See, I've got these short stubby legs and a long torsoe.

My wife is 5'6" and rides a 54cm road bike and a Medium mtn bike. We can ride each others bikes with little or no adjustment. So you see, total height isn't important.

6'1" 18.5" frame

5' 8" and I think my frame is a 14 or 15. It feels huge to me.

6.1" riding a 19" Specialized hardtail, and a 17.5" steel Scott ht as well....the 17.5" feels better...so my next frame will be a Specialized SX 17" :D

Does that feel right for you? I've got the same inseam, a shorter torso, and long ass legs. It seems wierd riding an XL bike because I just figured most people riding them would be well in excess of 6 foot, and I'm just barely 6...

i'm about 5'7" at most. both my bikes got 15.5" frames.

6'3" and i ride a 61 lemond roadbike and im gonna get a 17 hardtail...

5'11" - 32 inseam - 21" c-t, 20" c-t would probably fit me better.

19" ht with medium tt length. This bike fits small / medium for djing
Large Bighit. Big fits big but when seated the bike sags into a perfect position.

Man some of you guys have some HUGE bikes to ride...sheesh ;)

it feels great on it. I tried riding a 19" but it just felt to werid but maybe it has to do with the fact that ive always been riding big frames. I guess i am use to it now :D

Well, I am 6'5", with a 34/35" inseam and 36" arms. I ride a bike with an effective top tube of 25.5", with a zero offset seatpost and a 120mm zero rise stem. Before I became old and stiff, it was a 135mm stem. I could care less what the "size of the bike" is, but it's a safe bet it'll be an XL when it fits.

You see, you shouldn't "size" your bike off the seat tube dimension. Sure, you don't want a bike that you can't get a leg over, but the most crucial dimension for fit is the effective top tube length. Too short, and you can't create a large enough cockpit or have to use a really long stem, which will steer like a tiller. Too long, and you will be uncomfortable and may shift the front center of your bike too far forward for stable descending.

Since different manufacurers make bikes with different top tube dimensions, even though they have the same "frame size", one cannot rely upon the seat tube dimension to tell us anything but that it MIGHT fit.

For example: a Large Intense Spider VP and an Extra Large Santa Cruz Blur have the SAME length top tube. The XL Blur "fits like a 21", but only has a 24.1" TT, which actually fits just like a "Large/18" Manitou/Tomac frame. K2 bikes have notoriously short top tubes, and many riders find themselves on a "large" when they'd otherwise ride a 16" frame on a Specialized or Giant.

Stepping over a frame and making sure you have crotch clearance is just a first step is sizing a bike to a person. I've owned several bikes where my "boys" are resting on the top tube. (I've got short legs and a long torsoe). So, in order to get my TT length correct, I went with a larger frame. However, I prefer a shorter TT for my current style of riding and I'm back to a Medium frame. Standover is NO issue because of the interuppted seat tube design of my bike.
