Fifty Plus (50+) - Friggin NEVER

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

On edit: Maybe the reason Pcad is feeling old is that he just had his first prostrate exam.

Who are you, stranger? And why do you evoke such strong reactions from my brethren? (I had to Google HTFU. Whoa!)

I believe the OP is explaining that even though he is over 50, he nevertheless is too cool for the 50+ forum. I think we can all agree on that.

Pcaddy is a denizen of the road forum where he is both infamous and famous, misunderstood and revered.
His on-screen personna can freak out those without an appreciation of sarcasm.
He is a road racer who rides over 10,000 miles per year with a bad back.
One of his favorite things is to make some inflammitory statement and watch the BF "train wrecks".
Despite my fredishness, he has always been cool to me. Maybe it's because I'm older.

I think he is refusing to give in to the fact that he is over 50.

The Road Forum sent us Pcad.

I'm not quite yet 50+ (48 and still spinning) but I still lurk here. I guess maybe I should HTFU and get older?
Cheers!

Welcome to my world. My racing age is 54. I hate that I have to say that and I'm not there yet.
Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

HTFU, indeed. This aging stuff's certainly not for wussies. But it certainly beats the *&%@ out of the alternative.
You're only as old as you act.

You're only as old as you act.
May I disagree, a 51 year old who behaves as a brash younger person is still 51 years foolish. Not particularly becoming.

He is a media star now with the RBA "Why I ride" in this month's issue. His press agent told him to get out and get the hoi poloi stirred up so the papparazzi would get him some free press.

Racing age? Is this a new measurement of time? Is it analogous to dog years?

The very fact that you took the time to post in the 50+ forum says it all.
You are scared s***less, and don't know how to handle the big 5 - 0!
We understand and offer our support. Are you aware of our 12 step 50+ program?

Racing age is your age at the end of the year. If you're turning 51 in December your age is 51 the whole year for purposes of registration, age brackets, etc.

His recent purchase of a Ti MTB from BikesDirect was very interesting.

Also, I think to be a troll, you have to be anonymous. Pcad isn't.

My father worked in the patch all his life. Made some great money but never lost that spirit. Still recall him coming out to Colorado to visit in 87. Texas plates on a big four door guzzler and the bumoer sticker :
Lord Please let there be another oil boom. I promise not to piss it away this time.

Friendly and respectful cultural exchange between sub-cultures within an overall community? Well yeah, but you gotta admit it has a rather unique nature, don'tcha?
