I know there is an initial learning curve with these things, but how long until (assuming it's possible) one can watch tv while on a roller?

If you watch a lot of Baywatch,.....years!

Depends on how good your spin is. It's uneven spin and weight imbalance that get you out of sorts on rollers. Just got my first set of rollers a few days ago. After three sessions on them I think I could watch TV if I wanted to but I'd still have to keep some degree of concentration on the bike to keep it centered on the rollers.
To watch TV I'd say it wouldn't take you too long to learn; you'd have it down in a week or two. You just have to raise your head. To actually enjoy and understand the show you're watching, that will take quite some time and practice. Riding rollers always takes a degree of concentration.
I would imagine that slipping off the rollers and into your TV set would be painful and perhaps costly!

I find that the noise of my rollers is the hardest part of trying to watch TV. I really don't know what i can do to keep from boring myself to death.... :(.
