Foo - Huntigton Beach

I have this contract work possibly coming up. The pay is good, but it is on the left shore and I am much closer to the right shore. Exact place is Huntington Beach. The client will not provide for any costs or take care of my needs (duuh:)); just expects me to show up for work one Monday morning.
The contract could be for month, maybe even years.

Any suggestion as far as accommodation? Thats proly the most pressing question as of now.

Good luck... Southern California housing prices increase exponentially as you get closer to the beach. :( Having to fork over ~$2k/month in rent or mortgage payements isn't uncommon. Rather, it's the norm.

HB is a pretty big city that goes inland a ways. I'm sure you could find something in your budget.

Granted - it's still in OC, which can be more expensive in general.
