Deutsche Telekom (http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080505/germany_deutsche_telekom_sprint_nextel.html) may buy the train wreck that is Spirit Nextel and take over as the primary sponsor for NASCAR. Thus making it the T-Mobile series.

Yeah the pink should go over nicely with the NASCAR crowd.

I can already hear the post-race interview "the T-Mobile Tampex Tampon Chevy was pretty good today, we just didn't have enough for the Massengill Ford"

on a serious note it would be the third "sponsor" (at least name ) change in three/four years. nextel, sprint, tmobile?

I miss when it was the Winston...

Looks like Clearwire are merging with SexTel (Sprint-Nextel).

Maybe we'll have a Clear Cup?

As soon as they ditched cycling, they signed to be sponsor of the BMW-Sauber F1 team. I think the secondary sponsor behind Petronas.

Rumor has it that Danica Patrick is considering a move to NASCAR, where the market is much bigger. Of course, based on her website, she may prefer blue...

It seems businesses where managed differently back then, they seemed to last longer. These days have turned form ventures business to vulture business. Hopefully Telekom has better management then Sprint.

They need to get a retired cyclist to drive. Der Jan could be crushing the souls of das gut ol boisen. Now we just need to get VW or MB or Audi to get involved. Toyota needs some competition.

nascar should be sponsored by either beer or cigarettes. anything else strays from reality of the fans. and becomes homogenized, feel good, political correctness.

I was hoping the Southern Baptist and NRA to pick up on the sponsorship.

Guns, Ammo, Camo, Beer, Smokes, and Fast Food are all legitimate sponsors.

One day at lunch, I heard the annoying combination of distorted bass and soup can muffler and looked out the window of Schlotzsky's to see a lowered VW Jetta emblazoned with all kinds of Japanese lettering and stickers. All I could think was that it was some sort of bizarre hip kid homage art work entitled "People whose asses we kicked in World War II.

Must have been playing some sort of Italian opera music.

NASCAR is "ghey" (pheard spelling) anyways; a pink T-Mobile Cup sounds about right.

Note the Lysol and Revlon ads on the car. Kurt Busch drove for Rubbermaid for years. The times, they are a changin'

Although, roughly 50% of NASCAR fans are chicks. Not many sports that guys will watch can claim that. Makes sense to market to them, particularly since nowadays, not even the guys are gearheads.

Sprint is dropping big bucks on their WiMax venture with Clearwire. They could use the money, and it it pans out, it could be a good investment.

Every movie I see with her I like right up until the point when you start learning who the characters really are.
