Track Cycling - track frames on road

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm wondering how many track bike riders use their bikes on the road and for what types of rides. Distance, hills, flats....
I see a few around but mostly on the road I see conversions. Just wondering.
I ride my track bicycle on the road for training, mainly for hills and work. I use my sew ups on the track and clinchers on the road, that's the only difference.
I commute and do small group rides on my track bike. Same as above, clinchers on the street, tubies on the track.

I'm fairly positive that in 10 or 15 years, more track racers people will have rode their first track bike on the street before they ever knew what a velodrome was. Just wait for some of the faster kids in the fixed gear scene to get bored with stop lights and want to maintain a constant 30+mph.

already happens in nyc. half of the 4s and 5s at kissena are young bike geeks who started racing in the alleycat scene.
anyway, i ride my track bike on the street. i also have a fixed gear commuter/work bike that's not as sparkley as my track bike. it gets twenty mile round trip commutes, long rides across the city to get to where my life puts me, and over the river into new jersey to visit my grandma every few weeks.
