I am trying to decide if I am ready for London Edinburgh London next year. Looking at the LEL website I found this really well written report from Mr. Peterson of Rivendell and Bridgestone fame.

You sure that's by Grant Peterson? On the website that you cited, there is a quote from Grant Peterson, but the email address is to maxp and in the article that the web page's author cites as his article in the Pedal Pushers Online magazine, the author is listed as Massimiliano Poletto.

The LEL ride report is still fun to read, though.

It surprised me that Petersen (sorry about the o) should be riding LEL, that was why I posted it. The link on the LEL website clearly indicates him as author. Sorry.

About your original question...

My wife and I are toying with the idea of doing LEL also, but with a current house remodel and the dollar dropping like a rock we may be staying closer to home.

When we were at PBP last year, the folks at the LEL booth (in the registration area for PBP) told us that if we could do PBP we could do LEL. We finished PBP on time even with a problem with the crank arm on our tandem that took a long time to fix. So in theory we could make it.

It sounds like a great ride.

I DNF:ed at PBP-07 due to a stupid mistake, so LEL is high on my list. More undulating hill's but not as good roads I've been told.

Dane's and Norwegians usually spell with one S and E and I think this tradition lives on in the British Isles. Swede's spell with two S and a O in son: Pettersson/Persson as in Petters son etc. But most immigrants changed their names, voluntarily or forcibly by the immigration authority, in America to blend in better.
