Time trial registration question?

Hi... I want to sign up for the Monee time trial this weekend, but I have no idea what category to sign up under. I have never raced before and don't belong to any group other than a bike club. Here are my options....

Open female
Elite 4 female (doubt I'm that, seeing I don't know what an elite 4 is)
Master 45-49 female (I'm 45yo, but what classifies me as a master?)
Citizen Female

I'm guessing I register either under Open Female or Citizen Female. Any ideas?

For the Open Female, Elite 4 and Masters, you are required to be a licensed racer (either ABR or USCF). If you do not have a license, than Citizen racing is where you sign up.

You must have a racing license (USCF/USAC) to sign up for one of the categories. If you do then you can race any that apply.

All racers start in Cat 5. You "shouldn't" be allowed to race in Elite 4. You would have to race Citizen Female if you don't have a license (pretty sure this would apply for 1-day licenses as well especially if you have never had a license before).

If I were you I would buy a license if you don't already have one (www.usacycling.org) and then register for Master 45-49 female.

If not you will have to race Citizen Female.

Women don't have a Cat5.

Start with the Citizen class and if you like it you can go higher next time. Usually, you have to buy a one-day license anyway because that is how they get insurance.

The order of difficulty should be Citizen, Cat4 (Elite just means between 18 and 30), 45-49 Masters, Open. Also know that you can race in the men's Masters races in any men's category that is 10 years older or less (i.e. Men's 55-59 or 50-54 or 45-49).

wow, thanks everyone... looks like I need to register Citizen. I've been told I can get a license for that day at the race, so that's what I will do. Thanks!!
