I have the option of repairing my '03 Specialized Enduro Comp, in order to get rid of some weight and replace basically all the bearings. The other option is that for the same price, i could sell the Enduro and get an '04 Specialized Epic. I personally am a big fan of the epic and it is my dream bike (well the top line carbon version of the epic, but the aluminum is just as fine at the moment) but i have to do one or the other. The '03 is already kinda decked out with decent componentry and the '04 comes stock pretty well outfitted, and i would also be able to switch some of the stuff from the enduro to the epic. What's the general opinion?

Um, does your riding suit using an Epic or an Enduro more? They're kind of different bicycles.

Well i ride XC but i love hitting the downhills as hard as my ride will allow. I could build the enduro with a new wheelset, handlebars, etc. and make it relatively lightweight, but it only has a fox float R which is not the most advanced in pedal bob so im thinking that for the same price it might be worth it to upgrade to the epic.

The deal i had for the epic fell through, and while considering what to do next, i went out and rode the enduro around for a couple minutes and while in the process i have decided that its just as well that it fell through, the enduro has its own personality and riding style that i love and cant give up, i wouldnt ever be able to forgive myself if i sold that bike. I am going to do an overhaul even if it costs me twice as much as a new one.

For what you want to do, your Enduro will serve you well upgraded. Frankly, the Epic is really more of a strictly-XC suspension bike.

Don't worry about your Float R - - you don't need a pedalling-platform shock, since your Horst-link FSR already takes care of what platform shocks are designed to compensate for (platform shocks were the savior of lesser designs like single-pivots).
