New Adventure Cycling Route:Washington Parks

The Adventure Cycling Association has now released its map of a new 870-mile touring route in Washington, the Washington Parks route.

The western part starts in Sedro Woolley, travels through the San Juans, comes to Port Townsend and then circles the Olympic Peninsula. The eastern part travels through Mt. Rainier National Park, crosses the Cascades to highway 97, then goes up to the North Cascades park.

Mount Rainier to 97 then up to NOCA? interesting...must take a look. that's not that much fun of a route IMO but does link two great parks, which i guess is the point of the tours. Oh, I guess that makes sense then.

Wierd how they describe section 2, Elma to Sedro Wooley.....they talk up Blewett Pass like it's the high point, and its' really a hohum mountain pass.


the beauty, as well as the higher passes you need to ride, is Mazama to Marblemount. I'm trying to figure out why to Leavenworth if you're riding highway 20....I guess that stretch to Lake Chelan is more enjoyable and it's not that much of an extra push? the riding between Chelan and Highway 20 is much more enjoyable, if quite arid.
