The high prices of gas here in southern Ontario was the final straw, to finally push us to use alternative means for transportation, whenever possible. I have had my Evox 140 now for several years. I used it on and off over that time mostly as a means of getting to and from work (15 min ride).
Having rode one of these style of bikes, I would have a hard time going back to using a regular upright bike, but can see getting a mountain bike for going on trails and such in the future...now that the wife has let me know that she is open to the idea of getting herself a bike as well.
We are in our 40's now, with two kids, 13 and 17. Wife over last year has implemented a "lifestyle change" for herself that has allowed her to drop 100 pounds so far. These changes have trickled down to the rest of us and we are slowly getting with the program :) Part of this is embracing the idea of cycling.
We do alot of camping and fishing, so of course I am curious to try ways to incorporate this with the bicycles ( I have a few radical ideas...lol) One thought is maybe going on a multi-day ride along the Waterfront Trail ,camping out along the way. I am currently in the process of building a trailer for my Evox (more of my radical ideas there) for this purpose as well as general utility uses.
Well look forward to reading the many interesting posts, participating when possible and asking a ton of questions!
