I have Shimano FC-M442 cranks on my Gary Fisher Marlin. What tools do I need to work on the bottom bracket and crankset? I'm thinking Park tools, but they do not have to be.

The crank model (unless you mean FC-M442-8) suggests that it's a standard square-taper BB, but beyond that you tell us nothing about the BB itself.

Check out one of the repair sites cited in the "New Posters - Please READ THIS" thread.

You need a crank puller and a bottom bracket tool. I just replaced the bottom bracket on my bike. If you think you need to remove the bottom bracket, my advice is to get a tool that is easy to attach a long wrench or cheater bar to. The bottom bracket is hard to get loose, so you need a lot of torque to break it free.
