Bicycle Mechanics - Easton EC70 Fork Insert Help

I was sold an Easton fork, minus the insert nut unbeknownst to me at the time. Anywho, I want to get this up and running, my bike doesn't like being out of commission, and I cant find anyone in town or online who stocks the insert nut, and leads or ideas?

Although mine's probably a year or so older I beleive them to be the same as their new stuff. Here's the PDF on their website that depicts the fork and insert:

your forks steerer is threaded internally? if so, that is proprietary to Easton.

Call Easton.

Their customer service says they dont offer replacement inserts. Does this make the almost new fork worthless and useless to me? I've got a bike built up and ready to go waiting only for an insert or new fork, any help or ideas?

You need an expansion style nut made for carbon tubes. You should be able to find them. The star nut would cut into carbon making it unsafe.

Expansion plugs are made by FSA, among others, and would provide the same function as the insert/starnut.

I know a compression plug works for most carbon steerers, but mine is threaded on the inside, which only Easton does as far as I know. Just wanted to double check and make sure that it'd work.

get an aluminum pipe plug and see if it will fit.
if so, drill and tap it for your topcap bolt.
hopefully easton didn't use some weird threading on your fork.

The threaded steerer must be unique to that particular model. I have two Easton EC90SLX forks on two bikes and both have smooth interior steerer walls and use regular expansion plugs.

If an expansion plug fits, you would think that it would get extra grip on that threading. Probably would be a one way trip.
