I am going to be physically beaten at tomorrow night's C.R.A.N.K. Mob ride. If this sounds like something you've always wanted to see, by all means come on down. It's for charity (AIDS LifeCycle). Real beating, real pain. I'll be handcuffed.
Meet at 9 PM at Sawtelle and LaGrange, ride at ten. I'm not sure what time the beating will be. Bring money. $10 per whack.
Cookies and other nice, nonviolent things will also be for sale, benefiting the same cause.

...and by "tomorrow," I mean Saturday, May 17 in case that isn't clear because of the date on my post.

Hey that's my old stomping ground when I lived in L.A. Go Warriors!

haha...hey it's true. :thumb:
PC will be handcuffed and whacked with a police baton. So here's your chance, people.
Are you pissed off at PC for any reason, real or imagined?
Have you ever found any aspect of his internet persona irritating? :crash:
For a small price this woman will take care of him for you...;)

Everyone is pissed at PC all of the time.
Pics? Pleeeze?
I'm spending the weekend converting my woodshop into a mixed-use space where power tools meet bicycle repair. And it's going to be open to whomever I run into who needs to do some bike maintenance. Anyone have a workstand they're ready to part with?
Today, head to the bike store to buy a new helmet for my boy.
Couser and Rice Canyons. The heat was punishing in a good way.

Bought a new helmet for my son. The whole "universal fit" thing is a bit bogus. But the price was right.

It was long enough for me to have a sore back, a jacked-up left wrist (from struggling against the cuffs, which I broke), and a bunch of marks. Show up next time with money, and we'll make it as long as you want!

I'll start a thread soon when I work out a few more kinks in the plan. Last night I chatted with a local group who were meeting just down the street from my house -- a few fixed gear riders in the group too -- and they were thrilled to hear the plan and want to be a part of it. In the next few weeks, we'll work out a schedule and officially roll it out. And rig up a proper work stand.
Oooh, the taboo topic of filing braze-ons. Personally, I left them on my conversion -- but then again I'm using them too. Of course, in a community workspace who am I to tell anyone what they can or can't do with the wide variety of files that I happen to have....

You think I am going to drive all the way up to LA just to make sure you get a proper thrashing? Right. Well... ...actually... idunno ... it might be worth it. We'll see.....

This makes it almost seem like driving 60 miles to ride a bike. That or make the same thing happen in Riverside.... {hmmm} ... {could it happen?} ... {why, YES!} ... working on it.
What was the fundraising for?
Team Midnight Ridazz, AIDS/LifeCycle 2008.
If it doesn't rain I'll do a SDBC ride on Saturday. And then on Monday I hope the weather is good. Because I like to pedal around the coast, checking out all the people who go to the beach twice a year. (Memorial Day and Labor Day).

I'm heading out to the Loomis Day Festival (http://lummisday.org/) where I'm meeting up with fellow BFer Brian Sorrell and going over to the Bike Oven for a visit...
Doing Sequoia Century this Sunday .... 112 miles and ~ 9000 feet climbing (although I wouldn't be surprised if it was 10,000 feet). http://www.westernwheelers.org/main/sequoia/index.htm
OC for lunch today. Sunday long ride, probably inland.
Found this on the bike trail today.

Is that a garter snake? It's big...I think so. That's the 3rd one I've come across in that area this month. There were a couple of Cobras circling overhead too.
And a bobcat ran out in front of me last week in Frazier Park.

Were you planning on riding too GP?
Were you planning on riding too GP?I offered to do a century with Indolent if he's feeling better. I was thinking of this general route: Oceanside or Solana Beach/Lake Hodges/Old Castle/Couser Cyn/Rice Cyn/Fallbrook/Oceanside or Solana Beach.
Cleaning my bike, which has been desperately needing it for a while now.

Not. I am feeling quasi-normal now but that would quickly change if I tried a century. I will probably get on the bike for an easy 20-30 miles just to clear my head.
Racing in the dana point crit...
wish me luck.
Ride to work Saturday.
Re-finish titanium frame Sat afternoon.

On the website the ride description is - Campo del Aguacates (60.5 mi, 6400' elev gain). I have no idea where this is.
Dolphin Tank hill repeats (in point loma) today and maybe meander up the coast tomorrow.
Traveled a good bike route on Foothill that goes from Santa Paula west over to Ventura through orange groves. Nice views down onto the very broad valley to the south. Several decent bike shops in Ventura, too.

Wow, that looks very cool--wish I'd checked in earlier.
I transferred the clip pedals from my old bike to my current one which, for me, is a big step in bicycle mechanics, then rode the Orange Line bike path to Canoga and back. :ride: At the Van Nuys Orange Line station on the way back (like 7 pm) I encountered some puzzled folks of a certain (i.e., my :50:) age with luggage who were trying to figure out how to get to Long Beach. I told them (Orange to Red to Blue) but I forgot to ask them--how the heck did they get to Van Nuys & Oxnard?

It was pretty cool, the "highlight" of the day was the 100% free concert by Jackson Browne! He was awesome!
Hey and it's cool you replaced your own pedals. It is possible to mess that up. After all, you might strip the threads, and you do have to figure out which way to turn the left pedal...:D

Nice.
It was very nice, even though the Sorrells had to leave and go back across town to Riverside, a bunch of us rode over from the Oven...

You stayed for JB. Nice.
The Bike Oven gave us lots of ideas for what we're starting up in Riverside. I managed to get in a brief zip through our neighborhoods after getting the house ready for this week's BBQ Tuesday, where (hopefully) some of the local kids will show up with their bicycles.
