I've always wanted to do this. I figure San Luis Obispo would be a great place, since it is half-way between LA and SF. The big question is : How many would be interested. Will have to come up with a route though. When would be the best date?

We're already booked into June, and are already booking July. This could be a fun ride, esp. if we do the Lighthouse Century course (we couldn't get in the last two years :(). We used to live in Lompoc and are familiar with the central coast.

I smell a weekend in Pismo Beach. ;)

<raises hand> Count me in. SLO, Santa Babs... somewhere where my non-riding wife can make a weekend of it.
Mid-june, July, would be goo

I'll join. Either end of June (after 6/14) or July would be good.

Holy moly, now that would be an epic drive for a bike ride.

I'd like it.

As long as there is no one from Southern California there.

Booked until after the Death Ride on 7/12. The ride sounds like fun, though!

Anything less than a Hundred is not worth the drive, so the other half would need something to do while I'm riding... She likes Wine, Art Shoping Relaxing = Santa Barbara August? But not to interfere with Marin Century or tour de Max.

While I probably couldn't make it, I would suggest the Santa Ynez/Solvang area. The riding is great, the wine is fantastic, it's beautiful, and significant others would find it an easy drive to get to either Santa Barbara OR SLO for the day, or just relax in the beautiful environs closer at hand.

I second that. We lived in Lompoc from '86 to '98. Since then there's been an explosion of wine-tasting places and wineries. I could totally not ride and devote my day to improving my skills as an oenophile. Any non-cycling spouse could do likewise.

I agree, but my only concern is if everyone is willing to drive that far. Solvang/Buelton is one of my favorite areas to ride, and we can do part of the time trial too!

What does everyone else think of Solvang instead? It is a longer drive.

Hey maybe she can hang with me and her and I can do a small ride or something. (For those of us who aren't as able to be as gung ho as the rest of ya!) :p

Sounds good. I picked mid August. Seems may/june/july are pretty booked up for me.
