Headset Install help

I got these Cane Creek headset with built in ball bearings off Dans Comp. I'm not entirely sure how to install them. I'm not trying to add the gyro i want straight cable. I just want them in though.

Left headset=The new Cane Creek set
Right headset=Stock DK set

Is the ring on the bottom in the first pic old or new.
