Bicycle Mechanics - Serotta BB

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm upgrading my dad's drivetrain on his Serotta for Christmas, but don't know whether Serottas take an Italian or English BB. Obviously he'd suspect something if I out and asked him, so I'm hoping someone here might know. I'm sure it doesn't matter, but is frame is a Legend Ti (in case different frames use different BBs). Thanks all.
I'm pretty certain that it's English. To be safe, get the serial number from the bike when your Dad's not looking and give Serotta a call. If you explain that it's for a Christmas present, I'm sure they'll give you the info. you need.

Excellent present! Nice of you to spoil your father like that. What are you upgrading to?

Remove the bottom bracket. Using your caliper measure the inside diameter of the BB hanger. English are 68mm and Italian's are 70mm. If you're still not sure, take the old bottom bracket to a local bike shop and they'll tell you.
I believe that Serotta is standard english BB.
You can contact Serotta (at www.serotta.com)
and verify threading.
