was wondering do I just cover the top with some plastic thinggy?
or do I rebuild the fork? (if so can someone give me a URL for some DIY instructions?)

There should be a date code stamped or molded into the lowers somewhere. If they say 02, they're probably '03s. You determine the model year of the fork that way.
Then, look up the service guide or user manual for that fork here:
thanks I actually found it before you posted...will look in the bottom tomorrow...saw that I need judy butter...
btw Im missing the knob adjuster...do I really need that? since its a "crap" fork anyways I can just cover it up??? with tape?

It's OK to just cover it up. Duct tape will stay in place better than most.
