Bicycle Mechanics - Upgrade Question
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I have 1999/2000 Torelli Gran Sasso. It is a 9-speed. It has a triple crank setup with a variety of Campy components and I want to convert it to a double. I am going to use components from the same time frame (around 2000) so hopefully none of the current QS configuration needs to be considered. The shifters right now are Daytona and I am going to try to make the bike primarily Daytona or Centaur as a double. Can I continue to use the shifters with the double crank setup or do they have to be changed?

the current shifters should be fine if they are campy. The front shifter isn't truly indexed so they are double or triple compatible anyway.

As a followup to my first question, if I wanted to go 10-speed on this bike, can I assume since it handles 9-speed componentry, it will also handle 10-speed? If not, what do I need to confirm in measurements, etc. to be certain that the bike will accomodate a 10 speed Campy setup? Thanks for any info!
