i usually camp in the folder-forum, but i was just wondering with all these intersting bikes, does anyone have unique helmets?
i mean, a ralliegh twenty retro bike would be awesome with one of these to protect ur lid!

I was looking at cool helmets a while back. One thing I found is that a lot of the cool motorcycle helmets don't meet the motorcycle helmet laws, so legally, they're just a hat.
My idea is get a BMX helmet and put viking horns on it. Haven't done it yet, though.

Win.
Although if you end up in a collision with another biker or a ped...

Nutcase helmets (http://www.nutcasehelmets.com/) are kind of interesting.

Helmets that come with face shields? That's something I would be interested in: Protection from flying objects and the ability to keep the weather off (and may well be far less prone to fogging up than unshielded glasses are).
Those Nutcase helmets are also quite interesting...and why not? No law that says a helmet has to be boring to do its job...but...please...NO "Hello Kitty" helmets! Unusual is one thing, and dorky another...but totally obnoxiously "too cute" is WAY over the line, IMHO.
YMMV.

Well, it would be helpful if the horns were something foamy instead of real cow horns. Not so much for the people you run into, but so you don't compromise the integrity of your own helmet.

Helmet saved me once so I am not so concerned with the aesthetic value but the idea that it keeps my "skin of the head" away from the asphalt.

But I'm a guuurrrlll! :D
I am not concerned .....however, I can appeciate the 'beauty' of having a helmet that serves two purposes :)

Not a helmet, but I wear a Respro Techno riding my longbike.
Makes you look like some kinda psycho or urban warrior or something.

I've always had an affinity for old leather tanker helmets. I see them sometimes on ebay. I highly doubt they would do anything in the event of a crash, but you'd look cool until you bust you head open.

That's a Nutcase helmet. They're $40.
I had a dude on a bike exit next to me on the way to work the other day and he scared the crap out of me when I looked over and saw something like this:

Saw this at the rally this morning. This photo is from behind, but the ears and fur strip are all there were- no face on it or anything. Not sure if this is supposed to be a rabbit or what, but it looked cool. But who makes 'em? And do they make the viking-horn model?

(Some of these are just hats, not helmet covers, and some are kid-oriented, meaning they may be too small for an adult). Click the "previous" or "next" pages for additional listings.

a glue gun, coat hangers, and fake fur makes for a great bunny helmet. Kept my head warm and my directional hearing was phenomenal.

Thanks, that's on of those magnet activated blinkies, had to sort of whip the bungee to stop it flipping up and turning on at odd times.
BTW my helmet is actually a Giro, not a Specialized as I originally posted, fluffed the brand name, oops.
