Anyone riding tomorrow?

I was out there this morning for Masters 4/5. I was disappointed last week for the weather. I was hoping to catch you out in Baraboo, but the weather was brutal so I skipped. I should have remembered to keep an eye out for the man with camera. Perhaps for Sussex in 3 weeks (skipping next week).

Masters 4/5 was a lot of fun. Pretty smooth. Only 3 or 4 big accelerations with the pace ramping up accordingly for the last 2 laps. What was not smooth was the turn by the guard shack. A hump in the road about 6 inches high that launched my ass out of the saddle and my back wheel off the ground on the first lap. One of my teammates went down because of it later in the race. You kind of had to take it out of the saddle and time up/down affect of it.

can't wait for pics!

Take it easy.

Short report ...

I didn't get there until noon, but it was a nice turn out. Weather held together nicely. Very few crashes.

Will have to wait for the Recursive report since he did TWO races ... :thumb:

... but these are from him in the 2/3's race.

More tomorrow ... I have several new entries for the "name that team" quiz.

I have to be up all night, so it's nap time.

i went. did the masters 123 race. finished as pack fodder. still not as fit as i should be, and that course didn't seem too safe. probably just me....
did any one see why Denny Yunk went over the bars by himself while he was off the front? it was totally freaky!

Race report:

3s race: It hurt. Last lap, on the backside, I was 5th wheel in a single file formation coming down the hill. By the time we made it to the corner at the bottom, I was about 20th. I maintained my position, but really had no pop for the finish. Final: 17th.

123 race: This was my first 123 race. Given that until a couple of months ago, the highest category racers I'd competed against were 4, this was a little intimidating. My dream goal for this race was to finish with the pack. I made it 30 minutes in, then I failed. I just didn't have any more juice. If I hadn't done the 3 race, I think I could have at least finished it, but my priority is on the 3 races. Too bad I sucked at that one too.

hey, what happened to Edens? I loaned him my "special" wheel.... yeah man, doing two fast races back to back will gas you fer sure....except for the W&S guys, who appeared to be on a training ride for the 1,2 race...sheesh! back when i was training 20+ hours a week, maybe...

I dunno. He pulled out of the 3 race with Nick Newton I think. He just wasn't feeling it yesterday I guess.

Here ... Recursive is following this guy from Chicago, I forget his name, but he had the best kit out there and a LONG pony tail. My friend John seemed to know all about the guy, so he was a fave' pic yesterday.

More later ... been jamming all night (CPR on a PNB ) ... need sleep!

Someone pointed my to this site...luckily. Was there shooting pics, first attempt at shooting a race like this, so forgive some amateurness. Great racing; could only stay to noon, but had an absolute blast watching and shooting. Hope to hit a few more of these this summer. :thumb:

John, your pictures are great, thanks for sharing. It would be cool if you could break them out by category also.

John Wilke

Yeah, I see others doing that. I don't want a zillion galleries in the end though. I will label the cat. on each pic. so it's easier to search through them. Your input is appreciated. Looking forward to the weekend - Monsters of the Midway in CHicago on Sat. , W.O.W. in Madison, Sunday!! :thumb:
