Ya know, some days just suck. Today was a normal day in the office, trying to get a mad rush of things done before heading out of the office. :crash::crash: Okay, done with the work chores, now ready to ride home on my bike ... fun time! :bike2:

It's always windy leaving the office, so I'm battling cross winds at first. Then, as I merge onto Carribean Pkwy, I get a blow out. It created two gashes in my tire. Okay, time to get out the spare tube. Give it some with CO2, but then, uh oh ... blow out. I think I left the CO2 in too long. Damn it! That's what you get for trying something out new.

I didn't want to walk back to work (was only 0.7 miles) and beg for a lift. Even then, I'd have to wait till 6 pm (it was 3:30 pm). So, being stubborn as I can be, I decide to walk ... and walk ... and walk. And I'm in my Sidi road shoes. You know how hard it is to walk 3.5 miles in road shoes??? That's how far it is to Sports Basement, so I can get some tubes, and CO2 cartridges. This time, I watch my air, and fill it up enough to get me home.

Ugh, I feel ya Ron! Some days you're the dog, some days you're the hydrant. The only flat I got in the past year was one of the days it was pouring rain out. I was stopped by the side of Central Expressway changing a flat, getting thoroughly soaked, and wondering why the f I insisted on doing this to myself...

(IMO This story is why pumps > co2 catridges.)

Part of me thinks it's user error :p

I finally abandoned my pump, although for the longest time I could be found with both, just incase I got Ron'd.

Look at the bright side Ron, its the weekend now:)

Shouldn't be - I can give my tire/tube a full 16g Co2 cartridge from dead flat and it'll take it all without popping. Maybe the tire bead wasn't properly seated?

yes - I bet you didn't seat the bead. Who knows.

I always keep a VTA schedule/map in my messenger bag "just in case", along with encyclopedic knowledge of where the bike shops are. Carribean might be tricky, but I might Light rail to MTV Caltrain, then take Caltrain to Sunnyvale where you are a block from Walt's.

I forgot all about the bike shop in Sunnyvale. I was contemplating Light Rail, then Caltrain to Lawrence and walking from there. Oh well, lessons learned for next time.
