Apparently Zabriskie's crash was bad enough to send him to the hospital.
Really rough, I feel terrible for him...

Official Medical Update for Dave Z
Dave sustained a compression fracture to the anterior aspect of his 1st lumbar vertebrae. He has no neurological damage and isn’t expected to have any in the future.
Dave will be heading home in the next few days, where he will continue to recover. At this time its a bit early to discuss his return-to-action date.
Thanks to our fans for their support and well wishes. We will keep you posted.

Damn... seems like a train track made him crash and Contador went down as well.

Was the train track running parallel to their direction of travel? I just don't understand how something like this could derail an individual's Giro...

I have no clue what you are trying to say, but it probably has to do with one of two things.
1. have you ever crossed sketchy train tracks in a race? they suck.
2. have you ever cracked a vertebrae and tried to ride? I havent, but my dad cracked a vertebrae a few years ago and was in some serious pain for a while.

I thought it was more of a double entendre.

I woke up to two hours of recorded soccer. RAI changed their scheduled programming.
Whilst this is annoying as I can't see stage 2 at all, it is all part of the fun of trying to watch the Giro,
Picture drop outs,
Italian Commentary,
Unscheduled schedule changes,
Seeing anymore than half the action is a win!

After such an awesome start, the race is pretty much over for Slipstream. Maybe one of their riders will do well on one of the remaining time trials, but with Dave out, they don't figure to make any serious noise.

They got some good riders, zorro. Lot of whom will be in breaks and/or be in the mix for TTs.
