I'll explain: I wake up a few times a week during the night because I can't sleep (stress). I go lie on the couch in the living room with the cat on me purring. To relax I count my heartbeats manually; beats counting sheeps :) I endup with HR of 47 .. 46 .. 45 etc. Tonight I decided to try with my HRM; again 46.. 45.. Even sitting upright at my computer I had 48. Note that I'm fully awake!
Now this morning I wake up and try the HRM. 57.. 56.. at most. If I do any movement it jumps to 62.. 65.. 71! and goes back to 56. I've tried this several time and the lowest HR I got in the morning was 52.
Now what resting HR should I use when calculating zones? (I know, I'll do a LT test sometime but not now). The true lowest one or the one in the morning getting up?
Also, why such a difference?
