Still no word on the frame - whether I'm getting a replacement or not.
Yesterday's climb to the top of Mt. Mitchell hurt like a mo-fo on the beater. Fortunately I'm in a race lull and training on this beast is doable. But my next race in June is a RR Championship. I'm going to need her.

What's the credit line on your lowest interest credit card?

Not even going there. I'm hoping the frame gets replaced by Fuji under its warranty. I just haven't heard yet.

Just sayin'... desperate times call for desperate measures :)

I would never seriously encourage anyone to take on unnecessary debt, though. Fiscal responsibility FTW.

What's the hold up? My teammate got word on his cracked Fuji frame in 3 days. Did you have to send this to the WV district upgrade marshall?

I read in Road Journal that the 08 frame is actually different and stiffer than the 07 version. Hope you get an 08..... I also hope you ran out of silver bar tape.

And mounted the shifters level with the tops. :D

This is an old setup/old photo. Some things have change. But not the shifters. I do need to readjust them.

Oh the shame.

I had/have the team issue....it cracked just aft of the BB on the non drive side chain stay, odd that this is a known problem with their frames and there has yet to be a recall. Cannondale finds one messed up Scapel and recalls the entire fleet.

Interesting that C'dale's Synapse and Fuji's Team are both made by the same company in Asia (I have no idea about the Scalpel...). However, you guys are doing a bang up job of scaring me out of buying that Team...

Well...if it's any consolation they have changed (supposedly due to me) the way they are doing business. They said that they have found someways to streamline their process' there at Fuji. They were great on the phone on monday.

I honestly think you are hard pressed to find a bike like the pro for the same price, ha..maybe there is a reason for that. There are plently of people out there riding and racing them without any problems, there will always be those with issues...it just happens that they all seem to be on the boards here.

The Sl-1 frame and team frames are not the same. Which one are you saying there is a known problem with? Subs is the first SL-1 frame I have heard about cracking, but he pedals really angrily.

SS - The seat tube on my SL-1 also broke after about a month of riding/racing on it. It cracked right beneath the slit where the seatpost clamp sits. Kind of an odd crack and I don't believe it was a result of over torquing as I used a torque wrench and an aftermarket Campy seatpost clamp. Still waiting to hear back from the Fuji warranty guy, and am curious to see how they sort out your situation.

I should see my new frame next week.
All these things are iffy. I wouldn't guarantee anything. But I wouldn't give up either. Try everything you can and see what happens.

you betcha.

I forgot how uncomfortable the c'dale is. Not that I don't still love her. But she's a rough one and a lil' big too. Plus she weighs a ton. BUT! I thank God that I do have an extra bike for such times as these.

i haven't heard of many of the SL-1's...but the team issue-team pro frames, C7/C4 carbon ones seem to be cracking a bit in the BB area. I know that mine isn't the only one that's for sure.

i wish i had the cash for the SL-1 frame but the Team Issue frame suits me fine....i don' think that i really warrant a frame like the SL-1 and would have to assume that it was a defect from the factory and had jack to do with my power outputs.;)

Everybody warrants any frame they want. I don't think you have to be a pro rider to ride a high end bike, you just need to really enjoy cycling. That's how I justify it. I suck as a racer.

I have the exact same bike, only mines equipped with SRAM Force. I LOVE IT!

I ride a 47cm frame. I'm 5'4 and it works well for me.

Also, did you get the carbon seat? Mine came included with it. I'm think I may need to get a new seat...:twitchy:

Where is she? No word from the shop or my middleman guy. I don't want to bug the piss out of them, but ,sh1ttledeedit, I want to have this bike before the weekend. Especially since I'm going to need every, single, paltry advantage to hold on.

It's 4 o'clock in the am. I'm up, my heart is racing, and I'm getting ready to ride this sweet 08' frame. God, I'm so freakin stoked! I'm going out just to make sure everything is good w/ me and the bike. Last night I had to do lawn work. Then I came in and started cleaning up the bike. I 86'd the safety stickers and put my Schwable Ultremo tires on it, made sure the seat was at the correct height, and just kinda gazed at it a bit before heading to bed.

I'm thinking about getting new bars and tape soon. Prolly the Ritchey WCS Carbon Classic Road Bar.
Anyway. Talk atcha later when I get to work.

Deda Newton ftw.

Snuffleupagus

Deda Newton ftw.

Truth. Make sure you use a torque wrench though. 205g aluminum bars are almost as finicky as carbon. Since I'm a jackass I over-torqued my only slightly heavier Deda Pista bars and ended up distorting them at the sh*tty Cannondale stem clam points. Expensive mistake, sure I could probably ride them but I figure my teeth and collar bone are worth more than 80 bucks.

An aside: Drug induced insomnia ftw.

Thanks guys. I'll look into it. There will be a few changes to the bike in the coming months. Unfortunately a power meter will not be one of them. That's a Christmas gift hopefully.

An aside: I leaned down to 171. Lowest I've been in months. Eating like a Mo-Fo today FTW!
