What have you never done in your life for which you don't have a really good explanation as to why? I'm speaking of the simpler pleasures, not necessarily something like you haven't yet climbed Mt. Everest.

For example, I've never had a massage. I've had some feeble mini-massages from my wife, but she is no good at it. So I have no idea what it really feels like to have a massage from a physical therapist or trained masseur.

I've also never driven, or even ridden, in a Corvette or Porsche. I've liked both cars since I was a kid, I have books on both, and even have a wheel emblem from a Porsche in my office that I purchased 15 years ago as my "first part" toward getting a whole one.

I've never climbed one of those fake rock walls at the fancier sporting goods stores. Always been intrigued by them. Never white water rafted, either. Or been to a dude ranch. Or been to the top of Coit Tower, even though I was born and raised in San Francisco.

I've driven a Corvette and have to admit I really didn't like it. I couldn't see the front end of the car and was always afraid of running it into something.

I'm a regular blood donor, which means I've never done a long list of things. I did look at a Corvette once. Call me Mr. Excitement.

I live in Denver and have never been to the Denver Mint, for which folks travel from across the nation to visit.

I have never climbed a 14,000+ foot mountain, yet I live in the state with the most in the 48 contiguous states. However, I have climbed some 13,000+'rs.

I have never ridden a unicycle (successfully).

I have never jumped out of an airplane with a parachute.

I have never "high dived."

Like Tom, I have never had a massage, although I have paid for many for my wife.

I have never had a manicure, but my wife has womanicures.

And the list goes on . . . . .

There is probably a long list of things I haven't done...I assume that you mean things you haven't done that you at least kinda sorta wish you had (I never had any desire to go sky-diving or wrestle an alligator, so I never did).

A few attainable goals that I never reached:
Never learned how to throw a lasso;
Never bulldogged a steer;
Never learned how to fly an airplane;
Never hiked the length of the Appalachian Trail;
Never found any gold (though I tried panning for it in California)...

I've always wanted to fly a plane, even just an introductory flight, but never have.

I had my best friends gray market 1985 Porsche Turbo Carrera for about 8 months in 1986 while he was getting a divorce. All I had to do was keep it clean and it was in essence mine for that time. I would had sold my sole to own that car, but it would have killed me eventually! In the late 70's I babysat a corvette for a couple of days...blah.

But I've been white water rafting in the Colorado, New, Gauley, & Ocoee Rivers.

I've never had a massage. I've never sung in an accomplished mens' choir of any significant size, nor have I ever sung with a barbershop group. I've never been sky diving or bungee jumping. I've never ridden a double century. I have never visited the Statue of Liberty.

I've never traveled abroad. Canada and the Bahamas don't count. Oh, I did got to Ireland once, but never the rest of Europe.

Never been convicted of anything........ But that's not what this thread is about.
How about: Never broke out of prison, like in the movies.

While I have been to the Denver Mint and have climbed the stairs to the top of Coit Tower, I should have added that I've never been to Yellowstone Park, and I've wanted to go there since I was 6. I am going to get there someday.

I've never colored my hair, and I don't have any desire to. I think every single one of my friends now colors her hair except one; it's what most women my age do to cover the gray or change it to a color they prefer. I don't care if the gray shows (many people tell me it appears more blonde than gray anyway) and I don't want another color. Maybe I'm weird, but I just don't see the point of going to all that trouble and expense just to make people think it's something other than what it really is.

Except for Canada and Mexico, I've never traveled outside of the U.S. But I hope to one day.

I've never eaten a snail, and I never plan to either.

Lived in Riverside County 14 years but never been to the Date Festival.

Although I live 35~miles south of Cleveland, I've never visited the Rock Hall of Fame.
I've never done stand up comedy.
I've never worked in a bike shop.
I've never invited a homeless person into my house.
I've never sucked on a helium balloon.
I've never put a note in a bottle and thrown it into the ocean.
I've never singlehandedly sailed a sailboat.
I've never flown in a large airplane.
I've never actually hugged a tree.

But most of all, I regret that I've never traveled.

Done lots of exciting things that apparantly many of the members haven't. Have now got to the stage where there is not anything that I think I would like to do that is something I should have done. In fact many of the things I used to be able to do- I no longer have the body or fitness----Or inclination to do again.

The only thing I now want to do is to get that holiday in the Alps. plenty of riding and a few more slopes to ride----If I want to.

There are a lot of things I've never done but most are things I have no desire to do. Things such as skydiving, climbing mountains, scuba diving, etc. A few things I enjoyed were off-roading on my motorcycle and drag strip racing.

There are a few things I've done that I wish I hadn't done. A girlfriend and I went to the top of the Statue of Liberty and I thought we might need the park rangers to get us down:eek: It wasn't a good idea for two people who are afraid of heights.

There are a few things I've never done that I plan to do in the future. I've never done a lot of traveling in the western part of the US. I lived in CA for a year but I was too young to remember. Traveling through the west and visiting some of our national parks is on my to-do list.

I have never jumped out of an airplane with a parachute.

.

So, does this mean you have jumped out of an airplane without a parachute??

Thank goodness I did do most of the things I absolutely had to do while on earth. As Spring fever grips me, I strongly feel I haven't done nearly enough skin diving in tropical waters. Plan to make up for that at least a little this Summer. Along those lines, then, I've never used the pony bottle set up I made a few years ago as an adjunct to skin diving. It's just been sitting in a closet. It seemed like a good idea before I made it, then it seemed like too much bother and too eccentric. Still, I'd really like to give it a try!

I jumped out of a helicopter without a parachute.

But, it was only a couple of feet off of the ground!

Never parachuted or bungee-cord jumped.

Never seen the Taj Mahal.

Never had anything to do with S&M, B&D, M&M, any of it. Back in my equestrian days I had all the props: whips, chains, spurs, chaps, and so forth. Just never used them on humans. Seems pointless to me.

What I've done includes pilot a glider and land it in a pasture, ride a motorcycle, ride a race-horse, and eat Mexican food. All pretty risky stuff.

I have never (knowingly) eaten a reptile.
I have never flown in a helicopter.
I have never dropped acid.
I have never been on a cruise ship.
I have never gone snow-shoeing.
I have never tasted Mountain Dew.

...and I don't want to do any of these things.

I think I'm kind of down to the detail level of things. Most of the things I haven't done I haven't wanted to do. Many of the things I have* done I haven't wanted to do, but did so I would overcome a fear of it. So anything left to do is pretty much building on something I've already done.

I've been taking horseback riding lessons, and that was a surprise. I'm not comfortable with horses, but I really like the lessons. It's a lot like working with dogs... a lot of leashwork, grooming and communicating, with a lot of added muscle work. My bike riding has been very helpful, as they make you ride no-handed, and make you swing your leg to sidesaddle position while you're moving, and lay down backwards and forwards. All my balance exercises on the bike have been really useful. My unease around horses has dwindled down to a little yurp in my tummy when walking behind them or they mouth me.

But that was pretty much the last "fear" to overcome. The only things I kind of wish I could do is :

wear a jet pack and ride through the air
make my own birch canoe
blow glass
have a vision in a sweat lodge
be a time traveler
Jump from the Narrows Bridge on Lake Minnetonka, which I never had enough guts to do as a kid.

Have done and never want to do again - drank python blood in Indonesia, eaten fermented rennet in Sudan and sago grubs in Borneo, climbed yard arms on sailing schooners (scared of heights) and stayed in any number of horrible hotels in UK, Eastern Europe and Saudi Arabia

Haven't done - hiked the Milford Track in New Zealand

YEN! That's the very nature of gardens! If it were just the way you like it, it wouldn't be fun any more. Plus, it's also their nature to never be the same, even for a moment.

I always liked the fact that quilters used to put a mistake in every quilt, just to remind themselves that only God was perfect....:)

Things I never want to do again:

Stay at the Miami Airport Holiday Inn
Eat pickled pigs feet
ride a camel
go to a sci fi convention
go to a bullfight
go to a cockfight
walk down a road where there are dobermans on every roof
stick my hand in a goose's cage
Drive through Branson, MO during during dinner/show time
do "pimp patrol" outside a girl's shelter on night shift
take a philosophy class
pose for an art class

I've never gone to the basement for a tornado warning. Like now. As I look out the window, I can see the probable cell skidding by about 5 miles north of me. Here there are only a few weak gusts of wind and light rain. Even so, I think I'll skip the ride today; those sirens just destroy the whole ambience of a Sunday on the bike.

My wife quilts. Alot. The tops are machine stitched the rest is quilted by hand. There's always some mistake that she knows about and will point out to me, but I don't think it's intentional.

Things that I'd like to do but haven't.

Skydive,
Bungee jump,
Ride in a hot air balloon,
Do RAGBRAI,
Tour on my trike,
See the Northern lights from some remote area of Alaska,
Hike any part of the Appilachian Trail,
River Raft through the Grand Canyon,(done lots of rafting elsewhere),
Ride a mule to the bottom of the Grand Canyon,
Take a cruise through the Panama Canal,
Ride a train across Canada,
Go sailing,

There are too many things that I've never done but would like to; many things that I've never done that it's too late for, and many things I may never have the opportunity or courage to try.
On the positive side I've never committed adultery or regicide.

Growing up in a very small town, I was keenly aware that the world was "somewhere else," which turned me into an experience junkie. My motto has been, "I'll try anything once," and so I've been lucky to do a lot of stuff, including some things I won't do again! (like Solveg above, one of the things I did that I really regretted was witnessing a bullfight. Much worse in person than I had imagined.)

But there are a surprising number of bike-related things I've never done. I have never:

- Replaced a broken spoke on the road
- Been on a supported, multi-day tour (I've done self-supported tours, but never one where people hauled your stuff for you).
- Taped my handlebars as well as the guys at the local bike shop...ANY local bike shop.
- Fallen in clipless pedals! (I'm sure my time will come).
- Built a bike up by myself from the bare frame
- Built a wheel (I plan to build a dynohub before winter for commuting so I hope to get this done this year).
