That leg looks like ****. Be careful about watching for DVT symptoms while you're enjoying those nifty opioid derivatives, Tom.

Most definitely, Kris, ,I am. I'm also keeping the leg active to promote muscle action and prevent edema.....I'm using a rocking block at the heel when I'm sitting to keep the calf muscles pumping. ;)
OK, update on my bike: My bike shop tells me that the fork is fine, it didn't take a hit at all. My front wheel was 1 mm out of true.....deep V's are STRONG :D The only actual damage I had to the bike was the lights from the impact, and a scuffed right brifter. It definitely seems that in staying attached to the bike, I protected it quite well. ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homan_sign

I do indeed feel your pain! It was Specialized that mailed me a 20% off coupon, sorry charlie. I imagine Bell might do something similar. I just emailed customer service on their web page. I told them I bounced my coconut off the curb and without their helmet I'd be lying in a bed at the VA. Not a lie!
Feel better Tom!
Get well soon Tom! I'm not sure about helmet replacement, but whenever I need new pads for my Bell Arc helmet, I just call and they send me new ones - free!
What's your current status Tom?

Banged up still, of course. Road Rash seems to be slowly healing, right hip hurts a lot less, but is still stiff. I'm moving short distances without the cane now as well, so definite improvement there. :D I have some limited mobility in my shoulder now as well. :D I started range of motion rehab exercises yesterday. :( They aren't pleasant, but they are better than the result if I DON'T do them ;)

Tom; to twist a line from Patton: "Stormcrow, you been reading my book"?
I read your report..deja vu right down to the 'no harm done to the bike'
Although I may have 'one upped ya' as my lycra shorts apparently had been totally shredded and were being held on by my blood and decided to give up the ghost just as I walked into the crowded ER.
Watch the shoulder..(tendons tear easy...turst me on this)
Good and positive thoughts headed your way.

Thanks, Ranger. It's pretty much down to the shoulder now. I still need the cane for spending any significant time on my feet, and I'm still in a sling. I'm starting to be able to use the right arm though for limited light use. I am improving though, and the road rash is granulating in nicely.
As to the shorts (Bibs, actually), I'm glad I had the Performance Bibs on instead of my Sugoi's. The material in the performance is a LOT heavier and more abrasion resistant. So is my Soviet Jersey I was wearing. It didn't even snag. :D, nor did the bibs.

Any time you have a crash and don't end up in the obits, it could have been worse. :D

Well, I'm off the cane :D Still sore, but I can now move around with it. Shoulder is still very sore, and mobility issues, but that's improving as well. I'm up to about 25% of normal range of motion before I hit the pain threshold. I can go short times without the sling as well, but the shoulder fatigues VERY easily.
I seem to be needing a lot of naps.....part of the healing process, I presume, along with the pain meds :p. I'm hoping to have enough mobility to do some short rides by the weekend.
The only thing that worries me is my upcoming Century on the 14th. It may well be miserable. I'm still going to try, though. :D

Can you do it on a recumbent easier? Can you get a 'bent to use? Good luck. I'd love to ride the Speedway, this year, I won't even get to the 500.

I may try a short ride Saturday, if the shoulder doesn't hurt too much. I now have about 65-70% of my range of motion, so recovery is coming nicely. My hip really gets to hurting if I have to walk very far yet, though. Road rash is healing well.
I definitely hit the road hard! My right hip is now purple and yellow, with a glorious bruise.
No pics though, I draw the line at taking my pants on on camera.

Good luck for your first ride back. Yep, hold the line on your pants. The bruise and the road rash was pretty tough sledding, there, although a lot tougher for you.
