Fifty Plus (50+) - I finally did a half century today

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Looks like the title of the actual ride report (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=416908) is too cryptic
So, to hell with suspense.
Besides, I'm so late to that dance, I'm probably the only one who could possibly be excited about it
And I am, believe me :D
If you want details (lots of pictures), go read that thread
Otherwise, this one should suffice.
Yep, 50 miles.

There are very few people, at any age, who consider 50 miles to be a short ride. Congrats.

Yep, 50 miles.
That new Giant is definitely working. That and of course the lightness of the bike and your personal fitness and the "Energy" food you take en route. (Hope it was PIE).
Well done- have you doing a metric by the end of the month and a full Century in the Autumn
Well done.

Pie! I knew I forgot something.
I did have a hearty breakfast and on the way back I had a PB&J Uncrustable and a packet of honey gel (Really just that, a packet of honey with added B vitamins). And lots and lots of water.
But, you know, I really have no interest in doing a full-on century (yet).
I figure a metric is good enough and it covers riding my age.
Yes, that Giant is something. My, my, my...

Congrats SKT. I am due to try that pretty soon and hope to do a metric (and my age) this year as well.
Congratulations! I think you can think about upgrading your goal for the season to a full century. It's only May!

Nice job SKT. I did that last year for my 50th birthday on a MTB and it was tough. Congratulations.

No rush to get there, but nothing gained by limiting your horizons either.
Glad the bike is working out for you, but it is the person on the bike making the accomplishments. :thumb:

Congratulations, and great pics on the other thread. I, for one, can't get enough ride reports like these, especially when they have nice views of other parts of the country.

Congrats! Just did MY first half century a couple of days ago (still feeling it!) It was the first time in a LONG time I've done that kind of mileage.
