I'm not understanding why he bailed. Personally I think riding it out is almost always better than landing on your feet, especially from that height and angle.

Should have stayed on the bike. But again I hate, and hate being, sofa athletes. MAyeb he had a reason. BAd luck for him :(

I think he just freaked when the front of the bike started lifting up. Look at him try and pump the bike and twist the bars to straighten things out. Looks like he just couldn't get corrected in time for the landing. Regardless, I'm sure he had a reason for bailing. It's easy to lose your balance enough that you just won't be able to stick the landing. That guy has got some serious balls for even attempting it.

That sucks, must have been some sort of brain freeze. He knows how to jump well enough to drop the front end, it's easy as hell on an MX bike, you just tap the rear brake. I watched that over and over and he just does not hit the rear brake on that jump. Hell, when it gets too severe you can hit both brakes, he didn't bother with either.

I wonder if it was the first time he hit that ramp and something about the shape just got him all screwed up and he pulled a "deer caught in headlights"?

I think as I watch it, he was trying to keep the bike stirght and forgot about the brakes. If you watch him as he takes off he is moving his body in such a way as if to keep from going sideways. At the part where his foot comes off the peg it looks as if he did it intentionaly for ballance and then could not get it back on quite in time.
