I'm busy running the drill buffer on a set of Mafac Racer brake calipers when I hear "clink" and the sound of a small piece hitting plastic. Yes - it was the hold down nut for the brake cable - somewhere within the dozen plastic containers of my work drawer - or NOT. After a half hour of emptying everything and crawing on the floor its gone! On the good side I found a functional alternative.
BTW - it's for the Peugeot I'm taking to the show. Last night I found the generator, headlight and taillight works! Even though it's almost showroom new a bit of polish and auto compound make it shine more!

Nice-looking UE-8! I may have a spare MAFAC nut -- if you need the real thing for the show, PM me, and I'll rummage through my parts bin.

I've got the Sister to that bike in the basement right now. I hope to restore it, but it might be a bit to far gone. We bought two bikes back in 1977 over in Jolly Ol' England. Mine was stolen just before I was going to rotate back to the states. Had many touring miles on those bikes over there.

Sigh....

I've got some white brake cable on order for the final touch-up. The Mafac Brakes were so clean I was surprised the simichrome actually made them brighter. It's a heavy bike - 35+ lbs!
