Don't ever get on the rollers when you're right next to a piece of furniture that's the same height as your derailleur. I'm lucky I only slightly bent the hanger on my precious '83 Paramount. :( Now I don't have a bike to ride!

I'm not sure I understand.
Just how did you manage to find the weak point in that RD?

No time to waste. Here's your replacement at a bargain price w/lots of Victory components too:

I'll lend you a NR derailer until you can get a new SR, if you promise not to ride it indoors.

Hmm... another reason to keep the dork disk on the bike...

I use a little stool to get up onto the saddle...it just happened to fall on it just right I guess. Heartbreaking! The hanger is now bent back, so I've just got to get a new derailleur. I am determined to get better on the rollers!

Wow, thanks...I might take you up on that! I'm afraid this accident might cut into my potential Motobecane budget. ;)

Wow that auction tripled at the last second. I'll keep looking.

Still, not a bad price, when all is said and done.

I had a friend once whose attention span wandered...he ended up sticking completely through his bedroom wall, front wheel in the dining room (split the difference between two wall studs).

Really? I've accidentally ridden off mine at 24 mph and the rear tire just chirped when it hit the floor... a second later I chirped when I hit the floor. ;) I didn't retain much if any forward movement once I rode off the rollers.

That looked like a pretty good deal...

I almost knocked a large wardrobe over on rollers, and my friends have taken a few spills, but my SR rear der. is still kicking!
