Malkin and I are considering attempting our first full century on Saturday. 70 is our max so far, but I think with some good pacing (ave just over 16 mph), water/food management, and a little bit of good luck we can do it. Anybody want to come along to share draft and encouragement?
Cheers!

Having a baby is a peak experience, life-altering event for the people invovled; it is a common, frequent, and mostly uninteresting event for humanity as a whole.
We rode our very first century (actually 108 miles) yesterday. We're very proud of ourselves. Just over a year ago, we nearly expired after our first 1/5th century. We've learned a lot and ridden some miles.
Along the way we met a bunch of nice folks and saw maybe a dozen other tandems with all combinations of captains/stokers. We even stopped for a brief Speedster convention. We've decided (actually have been convinced by our bodies) to take a rest day today. Props to those of you who do this routinely, and thanks to the BF Tandem board for remote mentoring.
Cheers!

Hey Brewer,
Great meeting you two. That was our first century on the tandem too, and a fantastic experience for us as well. Thanks for the suggestions!
(Check for private msgs re: riding this weekend).

Brewer and SLC...Congrats to both your teams...doing that first century IS a big deal and doing it on a tandem is all the more so. Aside from some of the hard core folks like here of BF Tandems there really aren't that many tandem couples completing that distance. Take the rest day... have the extra dessert..you definitely earned it!

Hey! Just weighing in as Brewer's rear admiral here.
Hi SLC!
Spec, thanks for the kind words--my auntie lives in Tehachapi--small world! And we are definitely taking your advice on the extra rest and indulgences!
