Well at least they are honest about the crack although they are not correct about the condition of the bike. "Unsafe to ride" comes to mind.

Crack? The heck with the crack. What about what looks to be a large void in the distant side seat tube mast / weld joint at the origin of the crack?

What would cause that? Owner abuse or defective weld originally?
Either way no sane person should think about that bike unless it can be repaired.

Ugly looking weld anyway.

Kinda glad my Santana is Fillet Brazed Steel. Even though it's a tank ;)

That is some very bad welding. Their welder needs to back to school. Never would have passed in my shop, but then again I welded airplane parts, can't pull over to the curb at 10,000 ft.

Metal jacketed 9mm... or a .30 '06. Just guessing.

Seriously, it's really hard to tell what's been done at that joint and the photo is very deceptive because it's not really showing the extent of the damage above the right seat stay weld joint with the seat tube mast.

A heavy stoker . . . ?
No such thing as a *small* crack! Have broken 2 tandem frames and one experimental fork. Ours was fair wear at 50,000 miles, at 56,000 miles and the experimental fork lasted 15,000 miles.
When our tandem reaches the 50,000 mile mark it's time to get back to the drawing board!

Wow, it costs more to ship a jacked up double than a decent quad!

If the seller is the original owner, wouldn't Santana warrant that?

Either the seller has a much bigger garage than I do, or he's in the bicycle business.

It would depend upon what caused the failure or damage. Again, the photo provided does not do a good job of depicting what appears to be a more serious damage above the right stay and if it's damaged the warranty is a moot point.

Just not enough information from which to make an informed opinion / assessment.

I'm sticking with the .9mm theory.:thumb:

Bill should have a good explanation on that one . . .

Not many bargains there either.

He's got a LeMond fixie with a "few small scratches and one small dent in the top tube". Starting bid is $581 and BIN $768.88 + $80 shipping. The photos look like it's pretty beat up with some of the scratches all the way through the paint and rust starting.

A new LeMond single speed has an MSRP of $769 that you can probably get discounted and pick it up at your LBS.

Bidding on the Santana with the cracked seat tube is up to $406. Too rich for my blood, if fixable. And if it isn't fixable.....

I'm more of a Schwinn Twinn Sport 10sp type anyway, low and slow. :D
